so are we to assume the engine oil is getting through/past the pistons and being thrown out through the turbo ?
would that not give you terminal diesel runaway as it self fuels itself ?

new turbo has been fitted so shouldnt runaway.

I think you may need a compression test to determine if anything has happened within the engine itself

can you tell if you have excessive oil consumption? and guessing you left the engine running for a while to try and burn any old oil out from the exhaust?

Piston rings would not cause compression in the radiator. Head gasket or cracked block or head would. A cracked head wouldn't loose oil a cracked block would. Until you get some tests done it's a bit of a guess.

A cracked head could lose oil to the waterways though, depending on where its cracked.... BUT AD has just had the head replaced by Alan, It was after this he noticed the odd sporadiac ' runaway ' symptoms that he mentioned at Kirton... Then he had turbo failure on the way home ...

@AD other than the smoke out the exhaust what other symptoms has the truck?

I noticed the exhaust was leaking and oil started coming out the leak along with the gasses,

The fact it started straight away says it's still getting compression, Did any oil get on top of the piston.

could it still be a turbo related issue .. I know its new and a pain to do , but maybe whip it off and just double check everything?
