What are your brakes like now still seem good enough ?

Yeah they're fine. I mention it in one of the videos below actually. I do plan on upgrading them still. But it's not urgent.

looking good luke, what did u do about speedo and rev counters?

The diesel rev counter does not work. I'm going to fit clocks from a V6. Speedo and warning lights are all good.

I actually like the fact that it's a sleeper. I'm no boy racer but it's nice to have the power when you want it.

Videos - finally! Sorry about the delay. I did these on Sunday in my excitement but then yesterday was basically bed ridden and mostly asleep. So if you're bored here's some orangey V8'ness.

We ain't done yet either. I'm intrigued to see how the induction sounds once I've reconnected the snorkel. I'm going to get some prices in for a twin balanced exhaust too. Headers ain't cheap though. And you need them too.

Well, it seems I've picked up NoroVirus. A healthy person can usually fight it off in a week. But my Chrohns has made me more vulnerable and less able to fight it. Right now it's how long is a piece of string .... 😒

Actually it was 6 minutes. I edited it because I probably shouldn't post that part of the video.

Cheers Gezza. And don't think you guys with prams can't ever do this. There's plenty of prams doing this same conversion. I just don't know the details of how exactly you do it.

Cheers pal. Yeah I'm actually a little shocked at how well it performs. I mean I knew it would be quick but what's suprised me the most is the stability at speed. Granted my truck has a pretty wide stance which no doubt helps. But previously on the rare occasion I got the truck up to 80 - usually down hill - it felt uncomfortable doing it. Like you're exceeding the speeds the vehicle was designed for. Driving it now you could be forgiven for thinking it's had a suspension overhaul too. It's ridiculously stable. Feels like how I imagine a big powerful range rover would feel. It's not unnerving at all.

It has shed loads of torque mate. Yes I don't see it being a problem. It's got considerably more torque than the 4D56. And the auto box is ideal for it.

I just found out a major bonus of this conversion that I was not expecting. The gearbox I've used has a super select transfer case. I've now got super select in a classic and didn't even know it. I've been round to MitsiArt to confirm it and tried 4wd on tarmac; no juddering. This came to light on the international Facebook page. The guru on there told me to check because he says the 3.5GDI had it.

I want to get down to Fils Pajeros now because a rear disc conversion looks like one of my next mods.

There was an unsuspecting wide boy today in a Clio with a dustbin for an exhaust nagging me to move. I had to switch lanes anyway for the upcoming roundabout so dutifully got out of his way. Then at the roundabout I blipped the throttle and the whole truck twists on its suspension. The noise overpowered his stereo and his engine.
