Adding yourself to the forum Map

Could just let us know where you heard about the L200Forum from please that would be great.
How did you find the L200Forum?

Morning all, cheers for the welcome. I have recently obtained an L200. I think it is a K74 Classic Warrior but don't know if its a face lift or not! Its a 53 plate and is pretty much standard apart from DRL's and a Colonel Bogey type airhorn (this is coming off asap and I'm hoping the original horn is still there). These were put on by the previous owner.

We are doing work to our house so it will be used to collect/tow materials mainly but also to use for short trips around Midlothian. I'd like to get the belts etc changed so may be getting in touch with Alan G at some point as I believe "he's the man" and is local!

The 4wd light doesn't work on the dash at all so am hoping its just a bulb. The 4wd engages and appears to work, the R/D diff lock button flashes red for a couple of seconds then stays on so I'm assuming thats working to.

Steep learning curve ahead. Primarily I tend to ride bikes out of choice hence my username, oddly not ridden a GSXR for a number of years owing to it being in several boxes in my garage!

Hello Mark
Alan G is definitely the man you need for getting your belts done etc
I'm betting that when you replace the 4x4 bulb that it will flash constantly
having a flashing 4x4 light is very common and Alan should be able to track down it's cause for you as it's usually vacuum related
My GSXR spends an inordinate time in my garage, not because it's in a box, it's because as I've got older I've become a fair weather biker

@krutly , you were right! Took the dash out, quite a few bulb/holder things missing. Some are supposed to be missing, ie A/T etc. Took one out, swapped and green flashing 4wd. Goes solid when in 4h and 4l, out when going between then flashes when back in 2wd.

not uncommon for people to take the bulb out to get rid of the annoying flashing light
mate of mine had his light flashing for about 4 years in his classic
He bought a barbarian and says he kinda misses the flashing light as he's been so used to it for so many years

light should go back out when in 2wd and as you say, goes solid in 4wd high and low (only use 4wd on loose surfaces by the way or you'll knacker the transfer box and or diff)
usually the flashing light is caused by a split vacuum hose somewhere/ vacuum pipes on the wrong way(especially if someone else has tried to fix it before and got them the wrong way round) or possibly the front diff actuator sticking. The actuator is on the front axle and is inside a little rubber bellows kind of thing. Pull the rubber back and spray with WD40 or the like to stop it sticking. Sometimes it can also be one of the solenoids on the drivers side wing that play up.
you've obviously had the dash out, I have done a how to with pics on here of how to change over your dash to LED bulbs if you haven't done already. You may not be able to see that yet as your username is still green but if you upgrade (details in the first post) then you'll be able to see all the forum
I think there is a vac pipe diagram and I think @4life-extreme has some nice photos of the pipes he replaced with red silicone ones that make it very easy to see where the pipes go to and from.

I've sent my details to hopefully upgrade, just waiting for when admin have time. I asked on the FB page, may as well ask you as well, where do you get LED dash bulbs from? As the dash is out it would make sense to change them. Quite a few are missing, some intentionally I guess like the A/T temp light as mines a manual. A few up the centre but I think they're for a different dash layout as when you shine a torch they don't show. One that does show is a green WHEEL LOCK on the bottom right, my owners manual says nothing about his so guess its for another model.

Edit: The holders are missing, the bits you twist to remove them and what the bulb sits in.

Loads on the bay, not sure what type. Nothing appears to have the same fitting mechanism. There are some similar, see T5 and B8.5 appear. Think T5 is bulb type, not sureif a B8.5 will fit.

Just checked Krutly's how to and he says T10 wedge bulbs for main dash, The ones for the heater controls are T5's, but as the warning lights are smaller I would guess they are T5's too
Quoted from krutly's how to Dash

bulbs you need 4 X 501 T10 W5W PUSH WEDGE in whatever colour you like
binicle thing you need 2 x 501 T10 W5W PUSH WEDGE
heater you need 2 x T5 / 286 Dashboard bulb

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

yep, some of the holders are meant to be missing
you'll be able to see which ones are meant to be there when you can view this ---------> g170-How-to-change-your-dash-bulbs-on-a-classic.html
any bulbs like these should do --------> Werbung: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-20-SMD-L...f0AAOSwjVVV3gPM
I put blue ones in mine, you only need 4 for the dash illumination and 2 for the binacle thingy (once again I've done a how to on removing the binacle)
you can get them cheaper from china if you want to wait a bit longer and sometimes it's cheaper to buy them in bags of 20 etc so shop around
if you tap in w5w led you should get loads come up (wedge 5 watt were the original ones in your dash with little blue rubber covers on them)

Cheers. Just need to find one holder now, instead of removing the bulb they've discarded the whole thing!
