You're not staying in a tent, in the snow, like inverness, then?

Spent a couple of hours in the garage after my dinner this evening.

Stripped the rubber and surround and then marked up, took a deep breath and selected a saw, cut off the part I will reuse.

Easier to continue than to go back so.

That's the easy part now I need to make it a truck again. I may be some time

Was having that debt with myself tonight as I stood counting up all the "to do" jobs I now have created. I might take 10 to 15 inch out off it however I need to see the cab finished first.

It's not an off road toy or I would just have tray backed and tubed it. I want it as a load carrier and general weekend work horse so I originally had no intention of a bob, they sometimes make the proportions look better so I will see.

Thanks Steve it will take a while I have plans for a nice flat finished bed and a very special finish for the bed.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were going to keep the back seat and make a double cab with a short bed, a single cab will have quite a big bed, but if its not for the mud then it probably don't matter that much.

Be good to see it coming along, I'd love to have a big garage to do homers again

Too true. Stick some diamonds on the front and it would be pretty special!
Looks good. How are you set from a structural perspective? Cutting out the rear body hoop is a big change to the framework, if you need to strengthen it again are you building in an internal rollbar (boring), beefing up the cab as you rebuild it (interesting), or making a shiny stainless set of roll bars (bling bling!!)?

So today I got on with cutting the bed to a finished size.
I marked inside and out and cut one layer at a time

My brother came over to help me remove all the unwanted parts to the dump so we stuck the back section on for a look. It will need about 5 inch cutting out of it but it looks promising for a decent fit.

Back from the dump and after a few pictures Alan buggered off so I got the plasma cutter out and made some mittens

I then used them to cap the ends, I will get n shaped channel made up to run inside the cut tops of the bed. This will allow me to weld along the length giving a decent finish once dressed and making the bed ridged.

I think all build threads have that effect Basil, its hard to grasp all the little jobs from reading this type of thread. I guess that's why many don't get finished or sold on half done.
I will try and catch most steps in pictures in case anyone else fancies getting the grinders and plasma cutters out

grinders and cutters aren`t my problem, its the weldy thing that I can`t do i.e. putting things together - taking apart into many little pieces - easy! lol

Eating the elephant one bite at a time, another couple of hours tonight saw the rear loom rerouted inside the panels

Cut the rear seat mounts off as well, both these changes will help run the new panels to make the bed sides as flat as possible.

I also welded up the mounting holes for wiper arm and washer that were in the rear of the roof. Some filler required to finish properly.

Looking better and better all the time, Brian. I like the methodical way you're posting up the build too. Shows loads of the little jobs, not just the massive changes. Saying that, I can't wait for the big reassembly!
