Pea and Ham from a Chicken?

#1 by McK , Tue Feb 12, 2013 9:51 pm

As requested here is the start of my conversion of a hilux surf into a pickup.
I know pictures are rubbish I will try and find a camera to document the rest of the build.

Another couple of hours tonight saw all the rear window mechanism, rear washer mechanism, interior lights, grab handles and speakers removed.

Need to fill the trailer and dump all the stripped out interior to clear my feet, then look out an appropriate saw

I appreciate the kind words lol.

Have you seen the price of total shed yota pickups on eblag. I have some nice plans for this. Hopefully the before and after will be a little bit wow. If it turns out as junk you get the added bonus of being able to take the piss

What sorta time-frame have you got for this awesome project

RE: Pea and Ham from a Chicken?

Not going to rush, it will get a few hours every week. Maybe be ready for summer pal.
It will be cut and the cab fabricated fairly quickly but as with all major builds there will be lots of jobs to do properly that end up unseen.

For those of you who were perhaps still navigating the the complex innards of your parents anatomy or were little more than a fond glance across the roller disco floor in the late 70's early 80's, here is the source of the thread.

I thought the 40 somethings would remember that title from there wee laddie days as i did and you didn't let me down. That morris traveler be worth a good pile of paper cash these days I reckon.
Hopefully the Surf will raise fewer laughs than the title when finished.

See it done before to a double cab (afterwards anyway) and I thought it looked pretty good. Odd, but good. I think it was a scottish mud club project, no?

@Mck - nice to see it finally starting! You think you'll have it ready for Greigboy's drumclog mudfest?

@Twedl200 - you're still so young that I'm sure you still don't get the pea-and-ham-from-a-chicken, despite the video
