Power steering issues

#1 by amac , Sat Apr 13, 2019 10:49 am

Hi,
Couple of issues with my steering. Leaking fluid from where the column enters the rack. Is there seals available or just replace the whole rack? Also have a groaning noise from the pump? any ideas to the problem?

Newer shape 2007 DID Warrior

Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Alan

If you have a leak and the pump is groaning check fluid level, europarts do a good sealer but depends on how big the leak is

Check the state of the oil too, if it’s manky the pump will struggle too.

I had this for 8 yrs, kept on topping up with Lucas power steering fluid, it’s a bit thicker than normal and slowed the leak. The squeaking is when the fluid is low. I’ve just changed my rack, £200 off ebay and a good few hrs work (changed driveshafts at the same time). There should be a how-to on here somewhere, or use the manual.
