low fuel light

#1 by Froudy77 , Fri Jan 03, 2020 8:22 pm

Hi everyone.
The other day I filled my 2005 animal. there was no fuel light on and I filled it to around halve a tank (£30). after a few hundred yards up the road I went round a corner and the fuel light came on still showing halve a tank on the gauge though. got home turned it off and back on again and no light. next day no light on start up but drove around the next corner and it lights up again. I was just wondering if the light is fed from the sender or the gauge so I know which end to take to bits. i.m assuming the gauge.
Any ideas more than welcome.

Not sure but the wiring diagrams are in the how to section for classics on one of the electrical sections ( sorry on phone lol )

Usually it's in the binnacle (instruments) as it feeds off the resistance on the needle for the gauge. It's not wiring per se, as they're part of the circuit board.

I thought that’s how it would be. No Harm in making sure though. I’ll have a look to see if there’s any obvious short. Probably need a new cluster though.
