Series 5 front recovery points?

#1 by Bionic , Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:36 pm

Hi. New here so not sure whether this is the right place to pose this but I will anyway. The question is as above really, I put down a deposit on a 2016 Warrior over the weekend which is likely to get worked fairly hard off road on a regular basis and hence is also likely to get bogged down on occasion (hopefully slightly less regularly). The truck is fitted with a tow bar so rear points are covered but from experience front recovery points are more complicated (my outgoing Rodeo now has a decidedly loose front bumper ) so was wondering what you chaps use as far as front recovery points.
Thanks in advance. James

I have a series 5 but its a Barbarian, there are 2 towing eyes under the front bumper on mine. I'll take a picture in the morning and post. Hopefully that would be the standard across the range,

Thanks for that, I don’t suppose you know if they’re strong enough for off road recovery or just manufacturers tie down eyes perchance?

I think they're bolted onto the chassis so if they're not strong enough for your needs it would take much to replace with something stronger. I had had to have a tug the other day, I had a trailer with a 20ft container on it. I had to shuffle to get round a tight corner and one side the trailer wheels slid off the track and into about 9" of mud and i couldn't get enough traction to pull out myself. I was pulled out still attached to the trailer using one of these eyes

Sounds good thanks, I’ve had some trucks with really flimsy excuses at the front before and on the Rodeo they were tucked right up under the bumper causing the tow strap to effectively mould around it during recovery which needless to say wasn’t ideal
Thanks again. James

This is what I've got on both sides.

They look like they should be up to the job especially given the fact you’ve obviously given them a workout
