2006 Suction Control Valve replacement - relearning required?

#1 by PorkPie , Wed Nov 18, 2020 12:43 pm

Hi, my l200 started going into limp mode when idled for 10 seconds or so (not fun when it happened at a roundabout). I purchased a compatible SCV from Milners, but my mechanic was unable to successfully fit it - with the engine codes cleared, it would instantly light up the EM light, and the engine would cut out completely when the slightest pressure was applied to the throttle. I have spoken to Milners about this, and they said sometimes the SCV needs relearning, although my mechanic said his console had no options for that. I've also spoken to a technician at my local Mitsubishi dealership, who said that they don't need and SQL, they are indeed a plug and play part.

Confused.

Has anyone been able to replace their SCV with one from eg Milners, without relearning?

I swapped my SCV on my 56 Warrior, didn't do a re learn and all was ok. Mine did not have fuelling issues, it was my EGR valve.
Have heard others say yes they do need one.

I've replaced mine twice with parts off eBay (56 plate) and never had to relearn. Second time when I took it off one of the bolts had come slightly lose so it could have been getting air in and part might have actually been fine
