Looking forward to getting them on, they are much needed at this stage. Oil change time over the weekend too.

You're doing a lot to the truck ... have you added up the cost yet? I'll bet the budget is well blown by now.

Hey Swagger, yup getting through it all and shall continue to do so until she is as I want her 😊. Haven't added up costs yet, probably best not too 😂. I don't have to pay for labour as I do it all myself so that helps. Have a genuine Mitsi rear heated window seal to go into her also. DOE (road test) is due this month so will need to sort the exhaust for that. Then it shall be onto all new shocks all round and front suspension refresh with new wishbones etc.

Hi Chef,

Yup they are worth it imo, combined with predator road pads, BD braided lines and new fluid I now have a truck that stops very rapidly indeed. I have used Black Diamonds for years and find them to be great bang for buck again imo.

Being honest mate I'm very easy on my brakes with all I drive and with the L200's fantastic engine braking I hardly need them. However for the odd time I may have to jam on they haul up nice. The pads throw out very little dust and bite well, I'll keep you in the loop as I increase the mileage on the truck .

COCK and b@lls, it turns out all my preventative cooling measures 15,000 miles ago didn't help stop head gasket failure.

Anyone on here using Milner Tocema cylinders Heads?

Thinking of replacing the complete head with built up head and steel gasket from Milners. Want to see now do ARP do head bolts for them.

Not much of an update other than head gasket demo needs doing now . I have nursed it along for as much as I could .

Installed a DEFI boost gauge into the truck which is a nice addition to the cab, she now needs her DOE (MOT) as it is up end of September and needs tax to so its all coming at once at the moment. FUN TIMES.

DOE (MOT) done and passed without issue. Truck apart now for head gasket swap and lots of hoses being swapped out for new genuine Mitzi items. 2 new front indicators with looms in on Tuesday so will have side lights on the front again.

Next job is to rotate the tires and balance the wheels. Then finish off putting the interior back in.

So a few weeks back the head was removed and revealed a well shagged head gasket. The head was sent off and pressure tested so a new HG was fitted and head skimmed and refitted. A week before Xmas she started overheating again. Sooooooo head whipped back off as I felt something more sinister was at play.

The head was re checked by another more reliable machine shop and was indeed cracked between cylinders 3-4. So a new cylinder head was sourced along with full set with Fiber head gasket, new head bolts, new water pump, mitsi hoses and rad cap amongst other parts.

Let the pictures begin.....

I was advised by a very reputable machine shop here in Ireland that does 2-3 of these heads a week to stick with a Fiber HG as they feel on the 4d56 heads they offer better sealing so I took the advise being honest.

New head built back up after valves reseated, rocker shaft assembly stripped, lubed and put back together and cam caps lubed. Water pump fitted and HG in place.

Starting to look like an engine again, all timed up and the last picture showing it all back together with it’s newly matte black rocker cover which I painted using VHT paint.

EGR cooler has been removed crudely by my standards so shall address this properly in the coming days. I was using a mates workshop and needed to get done quickly so had to make do with what I could find to delete the EGR.

So what’s next for the girlie....

Fit new temperature sender
Fit new Defi 52mm water temperature gauge
Remove EGR properly with proper blanking plates etc.
Install FMIC kit
Dial boost back as at present it boosts to 20+ psi, so want this under control.

In between all the mechanical works I figured it time to get the interior back into properly and make it more homely finally!!!

I fitted a new rear heater switch, changed the gearknob using a Snapon screwdriver handle, fitted some under dash lighting and gave everything a good scrub.
