If anyone has a wiring diagram it would be easy to find. Lez maybe? I know this is the case because I originally thought I may have had a badly calibrated thermo switch that was being cooled by higher speeds. So i bypassed the switch, being a two minute job, and there was no change at all. Tried going through 35mph in 3rd, 4th and 5th. So SOMETHING is suppose to switch off at 35mph. I can take a photo though.

Yoda,
Lez has put full wiring diagrams for the classic in 'workshop' 'electrical' scroll to bottom of page, one from bottom. Full wiring for all classics.

2006 'new shape' from new 66000 miles, no problems, just serviced every 12k miles.

Awesome, thanks Bootsie. Will use that tomorrow. Kinda hoping Lez can tell us what it does.

Trying to have a quick think, the speed relation can only be coincidence as we have no electronic speed signal, and as such the ECU has no knowledge of actual speed ( unless there's a sneaky one out of the clocks ). So trying to work out where we could have a related component, ie manifold pressure and throttle position.....

Yeah exactly. Something happens at that speed but not necessarily triggered BY the speed itself. It really is amazing how precise it is too. I would hover it at 34 and it would stay on veg. The INSTANT I hit 35 and "BEEEEEEP" - YOU ARE OFF VEG!

Also bear in mind my speedo is 3mph over actual speed.

Luke, there could be a speed feed from the clocks where the mechanical signal is converted to an electronic one, won't be able to get on this for a week or so but will be interested to know wire colour at least to try and trace it back.

Off the top of my head I think the wire colour was black and white. Will confirm.......
