If it IS made in China then sod it just fit what we have! I've been googling like you said but not sure i've found what you did. I'm guessing most of them come from China anyway??

Cool.So as far as I am concerned then we can buy £40 probes from one of 3 manufacturers that are more reputable and won't (shouldn't) risk breaking off pre turbo. Opinions on quality of the gauge?

Raj, pre turbo is far more accurate.

But for pre turbo doesnt that mean u need to remove the manifold so that u dont get the filings going through the turbo

Case in point then. That company I posted - as with most of the more expensive ones - sell probes separately from gauges. £40 for a probe, £70+ for a gauge. You do the maths. So it's in the ball park. way I see it is a gauge is a gauge. At least we save something......

Dammit, removing the manifold is a right pain in the ass

For a new shape I guess you mean? I'm also guessing this means your scangauge doesn't read EGT's? Bootsie I think was adamant there's one which does. Save you the hassle........

The scangauge has something called x-gauge where u can add extra readings, but no one seems to have the right coding for EGT

Its kind of on the same lines as EGT, however, haas anyone ever though of heat wrapping they're manifold/front pipes with the exhauast bandages that alot of tuned cars seem to run ? Help keep the heat under the bonnet down abit and also look flashy,

in some ways it can, uncovered its cooling covered you have the temps higher as its insulating, so it keeps more heat at the turbo, main reason for covering is to stop the heat igniting/melting something

That' a fair point. Don't want more heat in the turbo.

seen a diahatsui 2.8 that was boosted and over fuelled that did just that ,

then the next run the turbo fins went out the exhaust in bits

My gauge turned up. I would agree with you Basil. It doesn't exactly look cheap as chips does it. In fact comparing the probe to pictures on line of more expensive ones it's hard to see any difference.

Just wondering oh clever and technical ones....if the probe broke off and went into the turbo... would any bits make it into the engine? or would they all go out the exhaust?

Does this measure exhaust temp or inlet air temp, the exhaust gasses would never return to the engine ( EGR Excepted of course, but presuming there is no longer one), so anything in the exhaust will just be shat out of the rear.
Inlet air temp, exactly the opposite, straight into the cylinders.

Exhaust gas temp. In the manifold, pre turbo. See where I'm coming from with the question? Or am I being blonde? And yes my EGR is blanked.

whilst on topic with gauges, my turbo boost gauge from the same manufacturer has a plastic tube with a "T" piece - which line is it supposed to break into, please ?
