More work today. Got the other seat in

Seating position is pretty high but not bad. Reverse puts the gear lever close to drivers inside bolster but body lift should sort that. Steering wheel is close to the legs but was thinking about getting a different wheel as mine is pretty worn and rattles like hell!

From which car are bucket seats??

They are corbeau targa buckets. After market jobs. I used some flat bar to mate them onto the existing seat frames.

Cheers guys. Have had em in a while still like em. They are quite high on the old frames but I'm used to it and the drivers bolster has fallen victim to the zip in my bike shorts and now has a large hole in it but it still works for me

Got round to fitting my LED bar today. Wiring was easy with the ebay loom I bought. I'm gonna change and relocate the switch once my new ones arrive but it works fine for now.

And switched on

Cheers my only worry is that it would be very easy to steal. May try get some pentagonal headed bolts or something to make it a little trickier

Probably both but agree that they would snap the brackets if determined enough!

Started the strip down yesterday. Did an all night on it and have just stopped now. At the point where new head is on and just needs torqued down. Need to fit new sump, belts fill with oil and hope for the best when it is started for the first time

Yeah very pleased Could have done without the hassle and expense of it all but glad it's done....

A couple of issues along the way slowed things up....
The KS international head is advertised as genuine but I have my doubts.... The holes for the rocker cover bolts needed the threads tapped. No real dramas but was pooing myself a little in case I got it wrong! Also one of the threads for the rocker shaft in cam cap number 4 stripped so I had to swap it out for the old one.
My radiator also needs new rubbers to support the bottom as they've disintegrated and fallen out causing the fan to rub the cowling slightly. Will fix these next time I have a moment.

Rob, keep the old rocker shaft & rockers. Allways good to have those as spares.

Interesting about the bolt need tapping......could cause an issue for someone else who hasn't the tapping tools..........Is it worth mentioning to K and S?

Interestingly enough, I got a pm from someone after I mentioned buying one saying they had to tap the threads. Mine arrived with the same problem but wasn't too worried about tapping them myself.

Gonna keep the old head as a visual aid for school and can pinch bits off it as needed

Just in from another late night with the truck....
Mission for tonight was to sort the fan/cowling interference I was getting resulting in a horrendous buzzing/grinding noise (those who were on the greenlane trip will probably remember!)

One of the rubber mounts in the rad x member had disappeared altogether and the other was about to do the same so picked up a pair of new ones at Mitzi for about £16 (included 10% discount 😀).
Re welded one of the rwd brackets that was beginning to come loose and bolted it all up.

Noise/rubbing was worse!!! Pulled it apart again and took out the fan cowling. Got the grinder out and attacked it!
Reassembled and no more noise!! Happy days

Now for a snooze and up for work in 4hrs....
