might need your help if I go that way @McK, been looking at pipe benders etc, think I would keep chassis just strip body (as its my first build) then move on from there. Got @Woody that can help too.

Keeping the chassis is a good option and just build your tube design off that base. I would duck arse the front and back to get full clearance on the up travel, plus it looks great.
You could trim the bonnet to suit and use that, make up new inner wingS and run the tube external to them. From the cab back make it only tube but as with the front bring it in as it gets closer to the rear.
I will dig out some pictures for you, then spend the next 6 months asking "is it done yet"?

So finally got Paj in back yard, plan is to just get it running and MOT'd, see how it runs for a few weeks then decide what to do with it. Started first time yesterday since November, at the moment all I can see is it needs new exhaust, clutch, all other basics seem to be ok.
Did notice clutch reservoir had no oil in it, so il start from bleeding system over weekend make sure that's ok.It should be as it allowed to move into gear when in position, the truck move forward slightly on full reves so must be clutch.

It's the plastic trims on 4x4 that make it worse, not putting trim back on for now. Just weld box sections in and plate where required no fancy finish as body will be taken of in future, just need it on road for now.

On nights this week but Think the best thing to do is put the bodylift kit on (2.5")and have ordered 50x100 box section making sills into rock sliders. Will take same time as repairing sills if not less and first lift is done.

Well as if the 'Rust Bucket' wasn't enough I have the Pajero to do a few jobs to as well.
With this thread I hope to outline the similarities to its big brother the L200, being in this case the one I have is the small 2.5 TD with K74/4D56 engine and not the 2.8TD.
It's already been useful to me as I needed front hubs for my L200 and they went straight on no probs, same shafts.(I keep the Paj at KORC for now)
So its J reg 1991- 2.5TD - SWB - 'Winter Pack'(twin battery set up)
First list of jobs:
New clutch kit - £80
New batteries - £114
Tyres and rims -have them ready to go on
Snorkle - ready to go on
Oh! And put hubs back on lol.

Hope this will get me started with it and see from there what else it will need

Take the body off and bin it, then tube the whole thing letting you stick any size tyre on you like

Make monster toy and tow it to Kirkton

One day I will build similar

Love to park that in Waitrose Eastbourne!!!

did have warrior, but crossed over to disco 2.
Thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, but it was somebody with a torch bringing more work!

Ok so a year later started work on Paj again today ....
It's been on axle stands all this time.
Took wheels off, rear ARB taken off and bigger springs put on
(From a LWB gives a few inches. Brake callipers and disks off
and wire brushed all I could of axle and chassis.
Before and after wire brush
