Bit more done, step welded to the rear bumper, old roof rack I made a while ago cut and welded to size and rear work lights mounted.....before I do anything else need to run her for a while to make sure all is good

So I managed to get the truck off road on Sunday, had a little overheating issue on the way to the site (40mile away), she went just over half way to 3/4 way on the guage and I stopped, we all know our trucks and I knew just over half way there was something wrong....pushed water back into the expansion tank, called AA just to make sure.
Conclusion was as its been stood so long with water in it, it's turned to rusty sludge...i topped up and it was OK, off road it was OK, (and all 4x4 system works perfectly ) used it to work yesterday and just a little bit over half gauge.
Got the hose in it this morning and rust coming out for about 5min. Came to work in it and runs OK.
Will flush it out a few times, then rad cleaner, next job is timing belt and tensioners so will add adequate coolant then, for now just keep flushing it...
As I have joined L-CAT.org this truck will be used as 4x4 response/first responder duties as required....

Just an update...
Had my mechanic change timing belt/balance belt and tensioners. New water pump and new complete alternator/vacume pump yesterday.
It was hard parting with the cash when you know it would cost you less yourself , but had to be done.
He started at 5:30am to get it done because I needed it this weekend for some 4x4 community assistance training (tomorrow morning) and now I can't go because iv been asked to work ....
This is the first Sunday I have been asked to work this year....

what would be good to know---- how many pajero owners had the same probs as L200 owners ie head etc? begs a question?

did have warrior, but crossed over to disco 2.
Thought I could see light at the end of the tunnel, but it was somebody with a torch bringing more work!

Same 5D56 engine, same problems...
All the front running gear is the same setup as a classic L200, wishbones, axles etc.
Chassis rot in same places...
Gearbox changes a little, and rear having coil springs....
More extra's in pajero/shogun as L200 is more of a work truck...
The 2.8td (4M40) also suffers head problems, just a mitsy thing, you neglect them you pay the price...

Just another update....
Installed new dual mass fly wheel,
New starter motor, new glow plugs so no more starting issues.
So that's most of engine and running gear sorted out now.
Just have a bit of oil leaking from half moon, but that's an easy fix....
From here on it gets interesting because I'm looking at locking diffs etc.😊

Not really done much of late, been busy on community assistance response.
Have run 9k miles now since cam belt service and running great, used as my daily drive 😊
This weekend I have overhauled all rear brakes and fitted new pads to the front. Fitted snorkel but need to finish that off....
