The crank sensor is behind the plastic covers I do believe u may be able to get at it without taking the actual pulley off. With ur problem I don't think it is going to be the css they usually make it a pig to start from cold

As it measures TDC Lee, can it not still play up when warm, as TDC may still not be registered within the sensor...I had an old Monde that was a bugger to start sometimes and that was Crank position sensor...The wires going to it had rubbed to bare wire and caused an intermittent fault. Would be a bugger cold or hot...

Could be mate sure it can be checked with the correct meter before stabbing in the dark and replacing it though

@ronniecabers @123hotchef thanks again guys, Ronnie it was your post about the Mondeo that sent me on that path, after searching and reading that a faulty crank sensor has and can throw up loads of strange faults, I havnt had chance to test it today so will have a look tomorrow after I have changed the oil and filter on my lads car and adjusted the brake switch on my Dads P4 Rover.

I don't work this hard when I am on shift.

To be honest mate I am nearly at the point where I will live with it, the truck always starts and it runs spot on when it does, at least then this thread can disappear

dont you need a proper analizer to check the CSS

Correct, have just read the manual and you do need a special testing harness etc, it will cost as much to get it tested as it will to buy a new one I guess, going to see if I can get to it without removing the pulley, if not I will live with it as it is for now.

you could do it without the harness but if you have a analizer, i am sure you could check it with a meter though as these analizers are bassed on a multi meter with a screen I think.

maybe u can use a light bulb?
