The way I look at it they are better as they can't fall off!
The plate is made of the correct reflective standard required and is legal on certain vehicles due to design of the vehicle which on general are old style sports cars. What is illegal on mine other than the middle spacing is the lack of the plate maker which should be on the bottom of the plate. But my fight is the truck is from Ireland and the current plate was also made in Ireland.
I've had no hassle with my plate.

Cheers bud. Not done yet. Bigger tyres needed. Despite going to 10 inch rims the arches still need filling out more. Rear nudge bar to gloss black. And the overall raptor paint job, dispensing with the plastidip. Oh a winch! I think that's it as far as the outside goes.

What's the law with the stick on plates on the front. Are are they all legit???

No, have another handy for MOT man... Just tie wrap it on one of the bars.

Mine goes through its MOT every year with 2 plates.

Bumper on!

Still need to remove the lower bumper brackets. Probably going to angle grind them off. I re painted up all the front end before fitting the bumper. And still need to fit LED indicators.

Big question is where's the best place for the number plate??

Btw I did my bumper with two coats of stone chip followed by two coats of smooth hammerite rattle cans.

Hi Mate

I'm going to be getting my hands on one of McK's magic winch bumpers soon as well. How difficult is it to get the original bumpers off and what Mods (if any) did you have to do to get the new one on??

Oh and the truck looks Ace

@Fielder,I think Yoda has a 4" lift minimum and I've a 2" lift and T bars wound up.The new bumper bolts on to your chassis with 6 bolts with no problems and can be fitted by one person.
On taking off the old bumper it's not hard ,I basically looked under seen a few bots ,undone them and if came off.the crash suppression frame unbolted easily.A 1 hour job in total with no knowledge

Do you have lift?

No lift on mine, I'm not too keen on lifting the body up any higher as my truck is (supposed) my sensible daily driver (you should see my weekend toy!)

I was reading some place else that both headlamps and grill had to come off to remove the bumper on a 2004 warrior. Strange.

Also how easy was it to paint in the end?

No side lights required as 3 stage headlamps ,check yours out Fielder.LED indicators fitted into new bumper ,micro size about 1-1/2 cm in width.
Put a pic up of your grille as I'm a 05 and didn't have to alter or move anything

I got properly told off for using hammerite on mine by a mate who is dab handy with a gun. He sprayed my truck last year if you remember. He says hammerite has silicon in it which means when it cracks it's a bitch to repair and will keep cracking. Bit too late now as it's done. I did a couple layers of stone chip underneath so if the paint fails it will need sand blasting to remove and start again.

@woody13 what's this military chassis paint???

I've always found Hammerite to be a right pain to spray on to stuff, I just can't seem to do it without it starting to run everywhere, I realise I'm probably putting too much on in one go, but when I'm spraying it, it looks like you've got no coverage, then all of a sudden you've gone too far and it's running everywhere! I'm keeping away from that stuff when I give mine a rattle can job. I've seen cans of Rustoleum around now, I might check that out, but to be honest because Hammerite was being a pain I went to Halfords and bought a can of their own brand satin black once and it went on really well with good coverage. I might buy a few cans of different brands and do a test run on my tailgate, as it's not on the truck anymore, and see what's the best for me.

I thought about going for the bed liner look but I want the black to match the black of the wheels and Windows so I'm going for a tough gloss paint. I did a fair bit of research yesterday and taking on-board what people said here I've formulated a plan;

3 layers of etching grey primer as a base coat. Flattening as I go then 3 layors of a stone chip resistant paint i picked up today, if that is enough and gives me a gloss enough look (don't need a mirror finish) I will leave it at that, otherwise I have a can of gloss black and lacquer to go over it.

I'm also painting over the chrome rear bumper so I will post up how that goes as people were interested in that as well.

@Fielder Stine chip paint is not at all gloss. It's very matt. So you will want to top coat it as you suggest. Do put pics up of the rear bumper. I want to spray mine so interested to see how the chrome affects it.
