Fades??? I've not heard of that happening. Guess we'll see.

Dave that Raptor is very close to my inspiration. The inspiration for the colour scheme actually came from this truck:

Just sprayed the arches in preparation for tomorrow.

Believe it or not, the arches are sprayed with bed liner from Halfords! Inspired from Animal's build thread. Now I reckon if I hadn't said that you wouldn't have known! It's a damn close match to PlastiDip eh! And keep in mind the dip is dirty and the liner is still 'wet'! So they should match up even better in due course.

Tell me that ain't gonna look the do shizzel!

Yes I do! The photo tomorrow will not look as good as can as it will make my wheels look too small. So 10" rims are up next. Keep that in mind people!

Also thinking now thinking about spraying the whole truck in bed liner if the dip ever wears off!

I have had an issue with it actually. It doesn't seem to bond to plastic trim like it does to painted metal. Not sure if its the heat but its lifting from the trim pieces here and there. If it won't hold I will pull those panels and redo probably with liner or something. Can always put a couple of coats of dip over the top to match texture and colour. But from what I'm seeing today with the liner that may not be necessary. If the dip doesn't work out long term then we're back to line x or the like I reckon.

I was quite fancying the dip but the 2 I've seen and spoken to the owners who both advised me against it .One was going back to the wrap.May go down that route. They both owned salon cars and not trucks.

It's impressed me in some ways. I was going down a tight country lane and a few branches were over hanging and over gown. I could not have avoided them without getting out of the truck and pinning them back. So I thought balls to it, this will be a good chance to test it's strength and pinned the throttle. I hit the branches both sides at over 40mph. One gave a proper THWACK as it hit the bumper. I had scratches down both sides, the length of the truck, and one very small tear on the bumper from the thwack. Took me seriously less than 10 mins to repair the lot and I swear you cannot tell. But then it randomly lifts on its own for no apparent reason on the plastic trim.

Mixed feelings....

The bed liner paint looks interesting, Luke. I scratched my arches to fk last week so this may be a relatively cheap alternative to buying new ones!

I did a quick search on halfords.com, tho, and couldn't find it - do you have a part number, or a link?

Looking good, tho!
Cheers

Yeah that's the stuff. There is a profusion of different bed liners on the market. Line X after all was meant as a bed liner. You can paint them on or spray them. How different the others are from Line X I do not know. I saw Animal use this one on his side steps and I asked for a close up shot so that I could see the shade and texture. At the time painting the arches is exactly what I had in mind. So I decided to go for it and can always dip over the top to get a perfect match. But I don't think I need to.

This should give the bed liner a pretty good test for durability. The arches are bound to get scraped before anything else. Especially the underside from stones etc. I'm also going to do the side steps like Animal has. I'm always standing on the steps for my ladders. If the bed liner holds up well enough and the dip continues to give me problems then I will have a serious cheap contender for the next paint job. Only we would buy it in a larger quantity and spray from a gun. Line X is famed for being impervious to scratches and stone chips. If any old bed liner can come close then ill be happy to use one and pay far less than Line X will charge to paint my truck.

There you go chaps. They look a lot wider in real life, which in turn exaggerates the need for wider wheels as well. The proportions, as expected, are all wrong without them.

All in all they went on very smoothly. They aren't even bolted underneath such is the strength of the arch. You can literally rock the truck from one arch. We had to tweak the underside to clear the tyre on turning. But this will be dependant on what lift and tyres you are running. The need some black silicon or body kit resin beaded around the edge to water proof them. But I will be doing this later as I am going to pull the arches off next weekend to fill the old arch holes and rust proof the new ones. The inner wing guards came out no trouble at all. As Gb said vice grips turned the screws out. So after I've protected the inner wing cavity the guards can go back on.

So that's about it. I can put this into a how to if people want with some more pictures of the process. But as Jo said today, it's easy to over complicate something so it will be pretty simple really.

Massive thanks to Jo (Cccreations) for producing these arches and for taking the lead with the fitment today. He made it look easy😁

I was tempted but I think they are too big for the places we go offroading. Deffo needs wider rims & boots aswell.

looks good kit though..... well done Jo.
