Came up to Wales the other day and the truck became more and more reluctant to start each time I stopped to let the dogs out. Starter motor was on it's last legs (again) so ordered an ebay 2nd hand replacement, as fed up with new pattern parts dying after a few months. Got the package the next day - very impressed with the prompt delivery - of a friggin alternator! They were damn good though and sent the starter motor out straight away, so at least thats a free alternator to take on the next Kirton trip ;)

Got the starter fitted but truck still not firing up, traced it down to a faulty fuel stop solenoid. So have taken the plunger out for now and just stall it when I want to stop. Eurocar parts don't sell them - dealer only they said. Just called the dealer as there's one pretty close to where I am here (compared to the 80 mile round trip in Cornwall). Unbeleivably, they don't sell the solenoid separately - you have to get the whole pump £900+VAT lol. Anyhow Milners to the rescue hopefully (hope their £18 solenoids lasts longer than their starter motors)....

2 years, 11 months and a lot of cursing later it fired up and I drove it around the farm here. Only reason I had the time to get it back in a 'working' condition is I got laid off just in time for Christmas! No dramas though, new job lined up for January, gardening leave for December and time to work on all my little(and not-so-little) projects I have been neglecting over the last 2 years!
I never knew I had lost so many tools in the shed until I tidied it out the other day.

The Dinosaur now has a K74 gearbox fitted. the bolt pattern is the same and the outputs are in pretty much the same place but that is where the similarities stop. the central support bolts are in different places, the anti-torque mount is way off, the bellhouse is bigger, the body is bigger, the switches are in different places, there are knobbly bolty bits which foul the stock transmission tunnel EVERYWHERE, the shifters are the wrong way round and biased way off to the left, the bolt lengths are different and the clutch slave cylinder is different. But worst of all, the thing which frustrated the whole process for months... the input shaft is 2mm thicker. This meant the spigot bearing I had wouldn't accept he shaft and for ages I tried everything thinking that the clutch wasn't aligned or the bosses were out of whack. In fact, I had to order a specialist machinery bearing reserved for some weird german and Japanese machinery to fit as nobody seems to do the correct bearing size in an automotive spigot bearing application. I also cut a new hole in the floor for the shifters so if anyone makes custom centre consoles, I know a guy in the market for one!!!
But it's in now so I just have to deal with almost 3 years worth of chippy fuel sitting in the fuel lines clogging everything up and a whole raft of other issues commensurate with a 25 year old truck not moving for 35months. The MoT test might be a ways off but it'll get there. I do love a good project

Heathen, if you do fork out the £900 for that new pump you should really buy because it's bound to be the right thing to do, I'll lend you a hand and take the old one off you for nothing 'cuase I'm nice like that

Changed a couple more dash bulbs after the alternator over-charge fried just about every one in the dash , also replaced replaced the leaking oil return pipe from the vac pump to the sump and while in there put in a 30cm extension pipe for the oil pressure switch and gauge T piece , everything is now neatly out of the way with easy access and professionally zip tied to the power steering pipe 😁, hopefully no more friggin oil leaks from that area

Took it for the first decent run since the new injector pump went in - all good except it took 9 hours (+1.5 tanks of fuel) from Cornwall to North Wales. Roadworks on M5 & M6 bloody unreal

Started the instal for the second battery , it's going in the rear tub by the tailgate. It's going to switched manually to charge it so I can jump my own truck off it in the event of a flat battery and for running all the auxiliary lights .
I managed to lay my hands on a load of copper welding cables so most of it has been a freebe 😁

Last night, chucked some ebay LED headlights in - they are much better than I thought they would be, although beam is possbily slighly off so need to have a look at it again. Also got a project box to fit rear 12v/USB/Voltmeter - just need to mount it - already got a wire running from battery into the tub so just needs hooking up at some point but will be good for keeping the coolbox plugged in when on holiday. Next job (as shown up by the new headlamp bulbs - is to sort the headlight casing which is yellowing.)

Today's little job was cleaning and tidying the load area, it's carried quite a bit of turf and garden shite recently, as well as being home to a dog a lot, and I was still finding pieces of glass from when I put a tumble dryer through the back window. All swept, scrubbed and hosed out now and nice and shiny. Also got the power supply put in the back, quite pleased with it as it looks nice and tidy:

Next job is an EGR blank, ordered last night for the princely sum of £8 and a few pennies. Should be a nice easy job, had a quick look last night and the EGR valve and pipe came off really nicely, chucked back on till the bits get here, will probably do a video as it's such an easy job, and there seems to be quite a few questions about it on the forum.
